Hi, I’m Sam.
Movement has always been medicine for me. When I first started practicing yoga over a decade ago I was drawn to the fancy postures and promises of increased flexibility. What I found was far more profound. Yoga for me is a roadmap to harmonious living. I relish in the stillness and complete concentration required during practice. This practice helps me to remain mindful, curious, and humble off the mat. As a psychotherapist serving marginalized communities in Ottawa and internationally for over 8 years, I know when life stress hits, the body keeps the score. I am constantly learning from the vulnerability and resiliency of the clients I work with.
As an instructor it is important to me to remain trauma-informed and offer individualized care. All proceeds from this small (8 person) 10$ donation-based class will go to Warrior Yoga, a non-profit with the mission and vision to decrease barriers of access to the healing practice of yoga. I offer a safe space to explore reconnecting with your body using subtle, gentle, and restorative postures. I help students to slow-down, be fully accepting of the present, and tap back into their bodies natural capacity to heal.
